Web-based training on inclusive work environments for government agencies

Equity in society and the workplace

TOGETHER FOR AN INCLUSIVE WORK LIFE

Imagine a work life where employers and trade unions collaborate to create a work environment where every individual, regardless of background or circumstances, has a place to grow and thrive. What would that entail? And how can we, with new knowledge and dialogue, move closer to such a reality?

The Social Partners’ Council is an organisation dedicated to strengthening dialogue and collaboration between employers and trade unions. They identified a clear need – to offer their member organisations practical support in creating inclusive work environments.

Amphi was asked if we could help them realise the vision of developing an engaging and educational web-based training program intended for their member organisations. For Amphi, this was an opportunity to use our expertise and passion for inclusive leadership, innovative teams, and creating psychologically safe workplaces.

In collaboration, we shaped the concept and ideas behind a web-based training program focused on inclusive work environments. Our work was based on research and knowledge of universal design of workplaces where every employee, regardless of their individual needs and circumstances, is given a clear place and role in the organisation.

WITH A FOCUS ON A SPACE FOR EVERYONE

  • Inclusive leadership
  • Universal design of workplaces
  • Inclusive processes and meetings
  • Psychological safety
  • Power structures in the workplace
  • The value of diverse skills and perspectives

STORIES AT THE CENTER OF LEARNING AND CHANGE

Amphi wouldn’t be Amphi if we didn’t also undertake to depict real-life scenes from the workplace as a starting point for learning and change. We conducted a thorough preliminary study to understand the unique needs of the target audience. Based on the analysis, we developed the concept for the web-based training and created exercises, reflection questions, and factual components.

With subtle acting, the short film ”Leo” shows how everyday events and social interactions in the workplace can be excluding and have negative consequences for the individual. In addition to the short film, we produced videos of lectures and informational films to explain and deepen the theoretical content of the training.

Today, the web-based training is an integral part of the Social Partners’ Council’s ”Inclusive Work Environment” service. It is available to government agencies striving to integrate inclusion into their work with the goal of creating a workplace where every individual can flourish.
